THE CHASE...

On Saturday the day before the race, I was getting prepared for my race by getting all of my gear together. Mom was getting the food and ice for my race and was stocking up the cooler. Dad was packing up the bikes and getting the truck loaded. My sister was helping me get my gear together. The whole family was very busy getting everything together, usually there is a lot of preparation that goes into packing for a race. That night while laying in my top bunk, I felt very nervous. I stayed up, trying to go to bed, until 3am! Then I quietly walked into mom and dads bedroom and said, " I cant sleep because I nervous about the race." Then I covered up in mom and dads covers and luckily I fell a sleep.
The big day finally came! As a warm up I did two laps in the kids race and supported my little sister. I CANT WAIT UNTIL ME AND MY LITTLE SISTER CAN RACE AGAINST EACH OTHER! When I lined up at the start line, I looked around and saw the most kids at any race this year. I started off slow but then I gained speed and was off and running. I started to climb like crazy... I was going BANANAS!!! The trail was very dry and slippery, the ground had a lot of loose gravel. I felt fast and so did the trail under me! There were a lot of loose rocks and tough roots. I was in a chase, after a boy, (who I later found out was in the class above me). As soon as I past him I told myself, " HIT THE GAS & STEP ON IT." VROOOM! I didn't see him again until I got into a sandy area and a climb. He past by me. I could not stand being beat by a boy! So I went up to 3 & 6 in my gears and started to eat the trail down like Pac Man. I was able to pass him and beat him to the finish line. I fought to the end... All of the hooting and hollering was all of the encouragement I needed. Dad hugged me and said, "you did great, you couldn't of done any better!" I had fun having someone to chase, but was mad because another boy beat me on the day. It turned out I was 2nd, at least it wasn't 3rd. When they gave out the season end plaque, I got the 1st place Champion award for my class!!! I was very happy, in fact, I hugged my little sister and spun her around!
I was really in a CHASE!

LET THE CRAZY OUT!

In The beginning I was scared and did not trust myself at first,I thought,You CAN do it!!!BELIEVE!!! With ALL the practicing at Ruby I did great!!! I EVEN MADE THOSE DOWNHILL SWITCHBACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was relived and proud. After I crossed the 2nd river crossing I started to sprint to the finish line as fast as my legs would go. Once I crossed the finish line I felt very emotional and starting crying because I was so happy to have finished the race. Then I flung my arms around daddy's neck and said, " I love you soooo much!" and daddy hugged me back back.
